Eleven refreshes, one workshop: how DentCar outlasts every design trend

Since 2013 we have modernized the DentCar website every single year — new design pass, current WordPress, fresh print. Result: a twelve-year client relationship that quietly books jobs while competitors pay for expensive rebuilds every three years.

01The client who never needed a "big rebuild"

DentCar removes dents without paint — a precise, honest craft in Leipzig, run by Sven Kittel. His website has exactly one job: make a local car owner with a dent call him. It doesn't need a metaverse. It doesn't need a brand world. It needs to be fast, current and trustworthy — every year, not every third year.

When Sven came to us in 2013, the obvious agency move was to sell him a five-figure rebuild with a strategy deck the size of a phone book. We didn't. We proposed something less glamorous and more effective: a real website, then a refresh every year. Twelve years later, that decision has outlived several redesign trends and at least four of his competitors' "new" websites.

02What a refresh actually includes

An annual Mediaberg refresh is not a coat of paint. Each cycle we update the design language, bump WordPress core, themes and plugins to current versions, re-check mobile behavior and loading times, and add what the business learned that year — new services, new photos, new icons.

The work extends beyond the screen: flyers, a square flyer for car dealerships, business cards, complete icon sets — all in the same visual language as the website. When a customer sees the flyer and then the site, it's one brand speaking, not two vendors guessing.

03Why this beats a redesign every few years

Search engines age domains like whiskey: consistency and steady updates build trust that a wiped-and-rebuilt site has to earn again from zero. Each rebuild resets your technical debt to zero — and your accumulated trust with it.

Then there's the human side. Sven never has to re-learn his own website. His customers never open a stranger. And his budget spreads across twelve years instead of exploding every third. A redesign, after all, is a confession that nobody maintained your site.

04The numbers behind the relationship

2013 to today: eleven annual refresh cycles, five print campaigns, two full icon-set generations, hosting on our infrastructure, and a website that loads in under two seconds on a phone in a workshop garage. One team the whole way — no agency changes, no handover losses, no "sorry, the guy who built it left".

Sven's own words after all these years: "Annually this agency modernizes my website and I am always amazed by the new designs that they produce. From the first phone call to the final touches, everything great!"

05Could AI have done this?

Honestly? AI can draft a decent-looking refresh in an afternoon. What it cannot do is keep twelve years of context: why the icon set looks the way it does, which print house owes us that paper stock, what Sven's customers actually click. Memory is the real product here — AI has none of yours.

Inside our workflow, AI does help keep this affordable: drafts, boilerplate and variant exploration — the routine work — simply need fewer working hours. The decisions — what to keep, what to change, what to never touch — are made by people who have refreshed this exact site eleven times.

06What this means for your business

You don't need the biggest project. You need someone who stays. Ask any agency bidding for your money one question: "What will you do for me in year four?" If the answer is a discount on a new website, you've learned everything you need.

Our audit is free, and we'll openly tell you whether your site needs a rebuild or — like DentCar in 2013 — just a partner who keeps it alive. Those are very different invoices, and pretending otherwise is how agencies make their margin.

Reading is cheaper than guessing.

Every article above is a pattern we've lived through with real clients. If one of them sounds like your situation — the audit is free and the numbers are real.
